Evening Outlook Story Art

Dean and Ron Funk ran a nice community newspaper before selling off.  These works complimented news, feature stories or editorials in all sections of the paper.  Editors aren’t psychics and never knew what the news would be, so lead time was at best a day ahead to read the story and create the cartoon or illustration.  Most were drawn the day of publication in about an hour or two.  Different styles of art depended on the story – harsh ink, soft pencil or smooth brush for shock news, soft stories or features.  Entertainment was my favorite category.
